Only Love Can Save Me
 - Cara Luft Oh darkness, why do you surround me after giving you everything?
I’ve asked the light to come and find me, tell the devil it’s time to leave Mmmm, Only love can save me, Only love can save me... I’m calling to the Holy of Holies, waiting for her face to shine
Be cradled in the arms of the mother and held tightly through the night Mmmm, Only love can save me, Only love can save me... Digging out from all the lies and sorrow, send that ladder down from on high
Gonna climb all the way to heaven, the gates are in my sight Mmmm, Only love can save me, Only love can save me... I’m shedding all the pain inside me, burning fires through the night
Rub the ashes all over my body, take a step into the light
Angels singing Glory Hallelujah, I can hear them call my name
Sent the devil packing south of the border, I won’t be in darkness again Mmmm, Only love can save me, Only love can save me...

Bye Bye Love 03:27
Bye Bye Love - Cara Luft & Lewis Melville My love is over And I’m living in an empty home
The band’s still playing Now I’m dancing all alone Bye bye goodbye forever Bye bye goodbye my lover Bye bye goodbye love of mine I had no idea It came down on me out of the blue Nothing I could do
Now I’m done with your lying And I’ll soon be done with tears for you Bye bye goodbye forever Bye bye goodbye my lover
Bye bye goodbye love of mine Bye bye goodbye love of mine
Love of mine Didn’t see the warning And I guess I missed most of the signs I’d lost track of time
I got caught daydreaming I can see how love can make you blind Bye bye goodbye forever Bye bye goodbye my lover Bye bye goodbye love of mine...
 Goodbye love of mine

Bring ’Em All In
 - Mike Scott Bring ’em all in, bring ’em all in, bring ’em all in, bring ’em all in Bring ’em all into my heart Bring the little fishes, bring the sharks
Bring ’em from the brightness, bring ’em from the dark Bring ’em all in... Bring ’em from the caverns, bring ’em from the heights
Bring ’em from the shadows, stand them in the light Bring ’em all in... Bring ’em out of purdah, bring ’em out of store
Bring ’em out of hiding, lay them at my door Bring ’em all in... Bring the unforgiven, bring the unredeemed bring the lost, the nameless, let them all be seen Bring ’em out of exile, bring ’em out of sleep
Bring them to the portal, lay them at my feet Bring ’em all in, bring ’em all in, bring ’em all in, bring ’em all in Bring ’em all into my heart...

House On Fire -
Cara Luft & Lewis Melville It was the month of May and all the birds were singing
Songs of sadness, songs of pain, a song of my house burning
Future in flames, my heart was aching I called Miriam and asked if she could hold me Headed straight for my car with things that I could carry
I went to Miriam’s, it’s not too far, a drive across the city
Stayed in her yellow room upstairs, window facing east
Slept all alone in bed, and strange as it seems I wore the bathrobe he gave me last year
And lay with my sorrow hoping love would appear Eleven days at her house, tears were streaming
I’d lay down on her couch and Miriam would hold me As evening settled in we’d start talking
About friendship and our fears and I would play my banjo Playing and laughing and talking and crying
And asking the questions of why does this happen To me and to you and to everyone over
Again and again and again and again? It was the month of May this year My house was burning
So I went to Miriam’s, just me and my banjo

The Ploughboy and the Cockney
 - Traditional, arr. Cara Luft It’s of a London cockney I now will relate He went into the country to find himself a mate He went into the country to find himself a mate He rode and he rode until he came to some public town
And there he alighted to drink at the Crown And there he alighted to drink at the Crown A beautiful damsel he there did espy Which caused him to tarry and therefore to bide Which caused him to tarry and therefore to bide He said, “My fair damsel, if you will be mine
Then all the gold and silver I have shall be thine Then all the gold and silver I have shall be thine.” But a ploughboy was standing by and hearin’ him say so
He said, “Me London cockney, I know what I know,” He said, “Me London cockney, I know what I know.” “We shall take up our arrows and go fight in the field
We’ll fight a good battle and gain her good will, We’ll fight a good battle and gain her good will.” And when he said this, he gave him such a blow “Oh, now me London cockney, you know what I know! Now me London cockney, you know what I know!” Oh, it never shall be said on all the plough bench That a ploughboy was not willin’ to fight for his wench
That a ploughboy was not willin’ to fight for his wench “Oh, carry me to London and there let me die, Don’t let me die here in a strange country
Don’t let me die here in a strange country.”

Idaho 04:03
Idaho -
Cara Luft & Lewis Melville My life is in pieces, I’ve fallen in a great big hole Spinning in circles, I’m burning hot and cold
My mama’s big sister, she’s living in Idaho Crossing the border, I need somewhere to go I need to begin my life all over again She loves Jesus, he helps with what she needs And when I’m with her his spirit she gives to me
I stay in the basement with George W. on the wall Lambs and the lions, I get to sleep with them all I need to begin my life all over again Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Dear Lord I thank thee for all the things you’ve done Offer salvation when I am on the run
For my mama’s big sister, she’s living in Idaho Crossing that border, I need somewhere to go I need to begin my life all over again
 Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Dallaire 05:59
Dallaire -
Cara Luft There’s a land that once was free, a land that speaks of God’s beauty If you can only see
And there I stood looking down, it was like a garden all around The storm rolled in without a sound
Shadows fell, darkness called, demons came to take it all And suddenly I felt so small
Fields of green turned to red, rivers flowed with the blood of the dead So many prayers left unsaid I shook hands with the devil, I stood and listened to his lies
Thought I saw the angels falling and the son had covered up his eyes He covered up his eyes Foreign kings in foreign lands, they took the power out of my hands To withdraw was their command
I did shout and I did pray, I told my men that we would stay While the world looked away
I went to see the devil's own to talk of peace and hope for all But his smile just froze my soul I saw you run, I heard you cry, they cut you down and I watched you die
So many tears in my eyes So many tears in my eyes I shook hands with the devil, I stood and listened to his lies
Thought I saw the angels falling and the son had covered up his eyes He covered up his eyes Now I don't sleep at night, I stay up waiting for the light I tell myself it’ll be alright
But what I see when I’m looking down is just sadness all around And the angels don't make a sound
Now if Jesus could have his say he'd make those kings kneel down and pray
And they’d confess they walked away They’d confess they walked away Will you forgive us? Can you forgive me on that day? I shook hands with the devil, I stood and listened to his lies
Thought I saw the angels falling and the son had covered up his eyes
I shook hands with the devil, I stood and choked upon his lies
Thought I saw those angels falling and the son had covered up his eyes

Off My Mind 03:38
Off My Mind
 - Cara Luft 40 miles from my home 40 miles on the blacktop rolling
I’m looking ahead Those clouds are full, it’s like the sun is dead Two months now since you’ve gone Two months since you left me for her siren song Oh yeah, it won’t be long til I will get you off of my mind I’ll tell you now it won’t be long til I will get you off of my mind Does she believe all the things you say? Does she know that one day you’ll walk away?
Does she like where your heart has been And that your soul is as black as sin?
Did you tell her that you can’t be trusted? That your head’s in the clouds and your mind’s all busted?
Oh yeah, it won’t be long til I will get you off of my mind
I’ll tell you now it won’t be long til I will get you off of my mind I won’t be the one who lies down quietly And watches you get away With doing all that you do best
Lyin’, cheatin’, Hurtin’, stealin’ Leaving your kids crying at their mother’s breast I asked the Lord on high If he’d come down and look you in the eye
Account for all the things you did All the hearts you broke and the lies you said
He just cried and shook his head He said the devil’s got you by the neck
Oh yeah, it won’t be long til I will get you off of my mind
I’ll tell you now it won’t be long til I will get you off of my mind 40 miles from my home 40 miles on the blacktop rolling
Sun is filling up the sky Burning off this pain of mine Go ahead now and play your games I’m bowing out and I’m driving away Oh yeah, it won’t be long til I will get you off of my mind I’ll tell you now it won’t be long til I will get you off of my mind

He Moved Through The Fair -
Traditional, arr. Cara Luft My love said to me “My mother won’t mind
And my father won’t slight you for your lack of kind.”
He laid his hand on me and this he did say
“It will not be long, Love, till our wedding day.” He went away from me and he moved through the fair And slowly I watched him move here and move there
He made his way homeward with one star awake
Like a swan in the evening moves over the lake Last night I dreamt that my lover came in
He came in so sweetly, his feet made no din
He stepped up beside me and this he did say
“It will not be long, Love, till our wedding day.”

It’s Gonna Be Alright
 - Cara Luft & Lewis Melville I’m gonna climb out of this valley
I’m gonna go somewhere I’ve never been
Run to the ocean, stand in the water
Cry as the waves come rolling in
Make my way to the water Watch the waves come rolling in I will not be so broken-hearted
The treasures deep inside me lost
I won’t think about tomorrow Or what lies ahead
Just turn my face towards the sun I’m gonna shine my light I’m gonna stand and fight I’m gonna be alright I’m gonna build a bridge with my brothers
And take my mother out for a night on the town
I’ll sit and play some tunes with my father
My sister and I are gonna talk til the walls come down
Me, my friends and family, we’ll watch those walls come down I’m gonna shine my light I’m gonna take delight I’m gonna shout it out
I’m gonna stand and fight I’m gonna be alright

Charged! 04:26
Charged!
 - Cara Luft & Lewis Melville It was on a Sunday morning in the merry month of June I was driving to Ontario, I had to get there soon
Thought I’d cross the border, take a shortcut through the States I’ll live to regret it cause it was a big mistake The guard stopped me at customs and asked “Whatcha bringing in?” He stood for law and order so I gave a nervous grin
“I’m passing through your country and I won’t be staying long I’m a Canadian folk singer and I’m only bringing songs.” He said, “I’d really like to trust you but you surely have to stop Hassling folk singers is a big part of my job
I’d really like to let you go but I don’t know where you’ve been So pull your car on over ‘cause I have to bring you in.” He looked my car once over, he tore the panels off the door He poked around my engine, he tore the rug off of the floor
I could see him get excited and I started to feel the heat ‘Cause he found some marijuana underneath the seat It’s not mine! It’s not mine! I never touch wacky tobaccy, I only drink what’s on the vine
It’s not mine! It’s not mine! I don’t know where it came from but I swear it isn’t mine! I’ve only smoked three times before and I never did inhale I’ve never had a ticket and I’ve never been in jail
I was raised on God and Jesus, at school my marks they were the best But now I’m at the border and I’m under arrest I’ve been charged! I’ve been charged! They found a stash of contraband under the front seat of my car
I’ve been charged! I’ve been charged! I’m an alien invader and a criminal at large For all of my troubles I thank my good friend Rich I don’t know how it got there but I know that it was his
I’m stuck here at the border and things are getting rough While he sits in his living room and takes another puff It was his! It was his! He left it in a plastic bag and now I’m really pissed It’s not mine! It’s not mine! But now I’ve got to take the rap and I might be doing time Everything is going wrong, I’ve used up all my luck I’m caught with someone else’s pot and now I’m really f#*%$
They’ve gone and flagged my passport and they’re going to take my car And now he’s looking closely at the wood on my guitar It’s not Brazilian! It’s Argentinean! And those drugs aren’t mine, they’re his and now I’m really screwed!
I’ve been charged! I’ve been charged! I’m an alien invader and a criminal at large
